MICE STRENGTHS ​

The meetings industry has experienced a significant increase in recent years and the performance of the destination Portugal in the ranking of the ICCA - International Congress and Convention Association testifies to the growing recognition and its consolidation in the international markets, attested by the successive awarding of prizes and distinctions in the most diverse areas of tourism.

Benefiting from this notoriety and with the aim of spreading the image of our country ever further, of favoring the development and attractiveness of the whole territory but also of reducing seasonality, Turismo de Portugal has proceeded to place of a team specialized in the MICE segment.

The growing importance of this segment, coinciding with the rise of new information and communication tools, has been decisive for the creation and development of the Site.  www.meetingsinportugal.com , intended to aggregate all the relevant and useful information for the organization of events in Portugal, taking advantage of the network offered by all the Convention Bureaus in the country.

It should also be noted that this team is responsible for the management and operation of the M&I Portugal program, in partnership with the national convention offices. It is an incentive program with financial tools under the responsibility of Turismo de Portugal and the Regional Tourism Promotion Agencies / Convention Bureaux that aims to attract, support the achievements of congresses and events of companies and associations in Portugal.

A FEW WORDS FROM THE MANAGEMENT

Portugal has established itself as a recognized destination in the Meeting & Incentives sector. It is now a natural option that comes to mind for PCOs or Mice agencies.

It must however be recognized that Lisbon concentrates the majority of events and we are convinced that Portugal can offer many other complementary options, with our 5 continental regions, Porto and the North, Centro de Portugal, Alentejo, Lisbon and Algarve and 2 archipelagos that are Madeira and the Azores.

Add to this, the very good air service which facilitates access to Portugal from more than fifteen airports. It is therefore very easy to bring together participants from all over France.  

However, we are aware that the competition is fierce. Also, we are investing heavily to promote the destination and have launched a platform dedicated to Mice,  MeetingsinPortugal.com , as well as a dedicated team for this segment.

We are also setting up a financial incentive program to which event organizers can apply.

We are at the disposal of agencies and PCO's to support them in their first steps and reflections.
